NEW COLLABORATIVE FRAMEWORKS FOR TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE
A group of physicians, scientists, government officials, and business persons spent several years discussing how to encourage the sharing of clinically useful tools developed through pharmaceutical drug development. Yoo and Company’s principal helped this diverse group that shared a common vision in translational medicine to develop a collaborative framework for tool sharing. Participating as a member of the core steering committee team, Yoo and Company’s principal drafted a financial model and operating plan for a new collaborative entity and helped it successfully win industry support as well as approval by influential national organizations. Yoo and Company’s principal has helped create new channels for research tools to reach clinical applications.
FINDING THE RIGHT PARTNER IN TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE
A large IT company had indicated interest in achieving market leadership in emerging technologies for Healthcare and Life Sciences. Yoo and Company’s principal helped this client evaluate the landscape and determine promising technology companies for potential strategic partnership development. Yoo and Company’s principal helped build relationships with potential partners and developed business cases that articulated benefits for client and potential partner. In facilitated meetings, Yoo and Company’s principal helped shepherd discussions towards agreements on behalf of the client.
CREATING COLLABORATIONS ACROSS BORDERS
A government-backed consortium of companies and institutions had been formed to foster collaboration and enhance the commercialization of innovative discoveries. Yoo and Company’s principal worked closely with the consortium leadership to define mechanisms for sharing information between companies and institutions internationally that would promote productive discussions while protecting intellectual property. Yoo and Company’s principal provided insight into the North American market, access to technology companies in the U.S.A., and business development activities for the consortium. Working in partnership with consortium staff, Yoo and Company’s principal helped consortium members articulate opportunities for collaboration, identified target entities, and established meaningful introductions for international negotiations.
SCALING RESEARCH PRACTICES FOR CLINICAL USE
Yoo and Company has helped translational research institutions and clinical centers translate technology processes for genomics applications from “lab bench” prototypes to industrial scale, robust clinical processes. This has included advisory and operational roles to guide the development of technologies into commercial offerings.
NEW COMPANY FORMATION AND OPERATIONALIZATION
Yoo and Company has taken several “incubation-stage” ventures from concepts to commercial offerings. This work has included business planning to venture financing, to asset sale capture of value for investors.
